Tyvek®
Tyvek®, is a trademark registered by DuPont ™. It is a thin plastic material built with pure polyethylene fiber that are compressed under heat and placed in a random way. The result is a light, thin, durable, water-resistant and tear- and wear-resistant material. Tyvek also has the ability to let water vapor through but not water.
Tyvek is used for technical textiles, among other things for durable envelopes, packaging in medicine and for maps, drawings and posters. Maps etc. made of tyvek can be dipped in water without being affected. It is also possible to fold many times without breaking.
Tyvek is available in many different qualities of surface treatments and the material must be tested in the intended printing technique.
We have several different qualities in the range. Our standard product is DuPont ™ Tyvek® Brillion®. Double-coated, a little smoother and it gives better printer runnability.
For those of you who use water-based ink, there is Tyvek Coated which is coated especially for that type of ink. Works great in HP Pagewide.
